KARYL HALL

This property could be such an asset to our village! The house has so much potential to meet many community needs, yet sits empty and underutilized. Let’s get this building fixed up and opened so the public can visit the Carmel History Center to learn the story of Carmel, come together for small gatherings, and house visiting artists, display art works, attract authors, and give local actors a unique stage to enrich our cultural heritage. Let’s do this!!

DAVID O’NEIL

Transforming the vacant Flanders Mansion into a public space for the benefit of everyone will fulfill the city’s original intention when it was purchased. As a multipurpose, hybrid-enabled venue, it can offer diverse activities accommodating only small groups, but enjoyed globally by many more. This balanced approach will ensure that people can enjoy the space as intended, without disturbing the neighbors. Though the property is accessed through a “residential” neighborhood, it is classified as “Improved Parklands” in the General Plan, designated for non-profit “public” use. Establishing the non-profit Carmel Outlands as an organization dedicated to being a cultural steward of our village’s legacy, this restoration effort will not only enhance the cachet of our city by sharing our village’s history, art and culture with a global online audience, but also promote stronger social ties among our residents and neighboring communities.
